Support for Completing or Passing School
School involves both rights and responsibilities. Students are required to attend school and follow school rules. At the same time, the school must monitor students and provide support to help them complete their education.
Description
Students are required to actively participate in their education by, for example, attending classes on time, completing assignments, and not disrupting lessons.
Students who are frequently absent from school may struggle to meet the learning objectives. These difficulties can have long-term consequences. The school will therefore take an active role in helping students complete their education.
The school will register absences from the first day a student is missing and will monitor absence patterns. As a parent, you can expect the school to maintain close cooperation with the home to provide the best possible support for the student.
Target group
Students in primary and lower secondary school.
Brochures, documents, maps, etc.
Acts
This is a legally mandated responsibility for schools. See in particular:
Opplæringslova § 10-6.
Guidelines – applying for, or receiving the service
The school is responsible for student follow-up, but this is not something parents can formally apply for, nor are there official appeal options. However, you can always contact the school administration to request a meeting about how best to support your child.
