Grant for Assessment and Project Planning
If you or someone in your household has a disability and needs to make adaptations to your home, you can apply for a grant to cover professional project planning assistance, such as services provided by an architect.
Description
The grant for assessment can be used to evaluate the following aspects:
- Possibilities and limitations of the existing home
- Outdoor areas and access
- Indoor accessibility
- Space requirements
- Interior design and usability
The grant for project planning can cover the costs of professional assistance, such as fees for an architect or another qualified expert.
The municipality will do an estimate over wether you have the financial means to fund the adaptation themselves or require a loan and/or grant from the municipality.

- The assessment and project planning must be carried out by a qualified professional.
- Your financial situation will influence whether you qualify for a housing adaptation grant.

Guidelines – applying for, or receiving the service
You must apply for the grant in the municipality where you live. The municipality can assist you in filling out the application.

Administrative procedure
You will be informed when the municipality processes your application, and you will have the opportunity to provide input. The municipality must gather all necessary information to make a decision, and you have the right to access the case documents. The decision will include the municipality’s reasoning, how the decision was reached, and who was involved in the process. You will receive the decision in writing.
Time taken to consider the application
The municipality is required to process the case as soon as possible. If the case cannot be resolved within one month, you will receive a written explanation of the delay and an estimated date for a decision.
Possibilities to appeal; procedure
If you are dissatisfied with the decision, you can appeal within three weeks from the date you received it. Explain what you are dissatisfied with and why you believe the decision should be changed, possibly providing new information to support your appeal. The municipality’s appeals board will review the case.
