Counseling in Primary School

As a primary school student, you are entitled to counseling on education and career choices. You are also entitled to counseling on personal or social matters. This counseling will be provided at your school and can be given individually if you prefer.

Description

As a primary school student, you will receive both general information about education and careers as well as counseling tailored to your age, grade level, interests, and aspirations.

If you need advice on matters unrelated to education or career choices, you are also entitled to it. You can receive personal guidance and counseling at school, for example, from a school nurse in the school health service.

Target group

Primary school and lower secondary school students.

Guidelines – applying for, or receiving the service

Both parents and students will receive information from the school on how counseling will be conducted. The goal is to make students aware of the choices they have in education and careers, helping them think long-term and begin planning.

At the primary school level, counseling is largely about helping students understand themselves, their interests, and their opportunities.

Social life and personal circumstances influence how students feel at school, their motivation, and how they learn. Therefore, the social aspect is also part of the school's counseling responsibility.

Possibilities to appeal; procedure

Counseling is the school's responsibility, but it is not something parents can apply for, and there are no formal appeal options. However, you may contact the school's administration at any time to request a meeting on how best to support your child.
